I was driving around town and noticed that pretty much overnight, all of these trees are blossoming. I’m not kidding, either. I have seen some tree varieties with little blossoms here and there, but these just BANG exploded. There are at least 100 of these trees on my daily route to the girls’ schools.

The park near our house got all new play equipment, and the girls are thrilled. We saw them winding up the construction fence, and ran right over to try it out.

Getting everyone ready in the morning, and Carlie is nowhere to be found. Then I hear a little noise. Yes, she’s at the desk, with my phone, playing her favorite puzzle game.

What a pretty day! Spring is creeping in. It’s really neat to watch the seasons change. It’s not as dramatic as other parts of the US, but to me, it’s stunning. The weather doesn’t change much in Orange County, so I never really got to watch everything come to life like this.

Today we went to the park with some family friends. The weather was perfect, just a little cool and sunny.

Such a lovely day. Gary made me breakfast: waffles with whipped cream and chocolate syrup, and bacon. Yummy!

But then… Carlie fell off a barstool and hit her face on the ground. She’s got a bruise and swelling on her little cheek. She’s such a cheerful kid, though. She was giggling with me on the couch within 30 minutes. And then she got up and ate her dinner. Nothing will keep this girl away from her food!

I was watching American Idol the other night, and one of the single moms was about to sing. They did the little background video, and showed her getting her little boy’s name tattooed on her back, and she showed pictures of her son, as they started the audio of her song. Then they cut back to the performance. She was singing A Natural Woman.

I have always thought of that song as something a woman might sing to her lover/boyfriend/husband. It was totally a song for the singer’s man, and one I found pretty annoying. It’s kind of pathetic and weak. Co-dependent. I mean, really?

But then, listening to the song as she held up a photo of her baby, the lyrics suddenly took on a new meaning. What if that is about the singer’s child? That changes everything. NOW I can relate to the song.

These are Corbin’s Valentines for her class. When they are all printed up (which is happening as I type, over at Walgreens, YAY for Walgreens, $3.35 for 35 of these!) I will cut little slits just above and below her fist, and insert the stick of a heart-shaped lollipop, so it looks like she is holding it out to you.

Sophie came home sick today, poor baby.

Every Tuesday and thursday, Corbin brings home these little books to read and discuss, which go back to school the following day. Tonight she brought home one called “THIS.” These are usually cute little books with simple stories– after all, they are meant for beginning readers. Corbin is in Kindergarten. So, I ask you, WTF is THIS!?

That’s an Alien, right? Like, a Ripley-bothering Alien. An AVP Alien. No?

Yeah, it totally IS.

That’s definitely NOT what I expected to pull out of Corbin’s Book Bag. I will have to put up the rest of it tomorrow, WP is giving me uploading issues again. But I promise you, it gets worse!!

Yes, I see you, creepy little Alien, hanging on the outside of the plane.

OK, what?! What is in the back of his truck? Are those chickens? Gary thinks they are chickens. Go ahead and click on the picture to make it bigger. Chickens, or not…?

Worse, though, WHAT IS IN THE TRASH CAN?! Is that a dead cat? OMG, it is TOTALLY a DEAD CAT.

…Right? It’s 100% a dead cat. In a book for Kindergarten kids. Yup.
